The Politik is Bembé Ségué and Mark de Clive-Lowe. Bembé is the ubiquitous vocal and writing talent behind tunes by Bugz in the Attic, 4Hero, Silhouette Brown, and Mark de Clive-Lowe's "Tide's Arising" album. Mark de Clive-Lowe is the UK-based musician and producer behind hundreds of future-soul rubs including Omar, Platinum Pied Pipers, DJ Spinna, Dego, Kenny Dope and plenty more. Between them they have knocked heads with some big guns including Pharoah Sanders, Lauryn Hill, Pino Palladino, Nicola Conte, Jody Watley, Jazzanova, and Shirley Bassey.
The Politik's self-titled debut album features Bémbé on the mic, joined by guests Blu, Bahamadia and replife, and Mark de Clive-Lowe on production with guests Waajeed (Bling47, Platinum Pied Pipers), Daz I-Kue (Bugz in the Attic) and Jason Yarde. It's not often that an album crosses so many boundaries, combines so many genres but still maintains the integrity, forward-thinking and legitimate moving music-making as The Politik.
