‘The Daily News’ is certainly an album that deals with contemporary issues, whether it be ‘Over-The-Counter Culture’ featuring Phonte of Little Brother or ‘Impatient People’ about the slow US government response to Hurricane Katrina.

‘Donnie’s soulfully funky set echoes the work of Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway but is thoroughly contemporary’ – USA Today

‘One of the year’s finest soul albums….An excellent album by a man unafraid to confront his demons and make music that he can be proud of for the rest of his life’ – Echoes

‘Donnie is my brother. Meaning not only that I love him unconditionally, but that we share the common goal of spreading knowledge through music and lyrics’ – India.Arie

‘One similarity to the 20+ Stevie is the man’s political edge to many of the lyrics on show. The Daily News offers a hint as to exactly the lyrical content and the journey Donnie is about to take you on.…Donnie rocks the music industry boat, something that is long overdue’ -Soulwalking.com

‘The first male neo-soul artist to arrive with a mature evolved sound, and messages about race, identity and the state of the urban landscape’ – Los Angeles Times

Four years have passed since his ground-breaking, much acclaimed debut ‘The Colored Section’. Now the Atlanta soul star returns with a powerful album that is evidence of his appreciation of a wide range of styles, including jazz, ragtime, soul, hip-hop, gospel and, of course, contemporary R&B. He is joined by some legendary musicians, including Al McKay and Larry Dunn from Earth, Wind & Fire and Bobby Watson from Rufus.

His affinity towards legendary artists like Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway was very apparent on ‘The Colored Section’, and his singles ‘Do You Know’ and ‘Cloud 9’ announced the arrival of a major new artist. ‘Cloud 9’ went to No 1 on several key US radio stations, including the Stevie Wonder-owned KJLH in Los Angeles.

Once again working with producer Steve ‘the Scotsman’ Harvey, Donnie returns with the ‘news’-themed album ‘The Daily News’, featuring the stunning new single ‘If I Were You’, which is already playing on music video channels on both sides of the Atlantic, including VH1 Soul and MTV Base.

Donnie makes timeless soul music capturing the moment coupled with classic lyrics which encapsulate the mood and feelings of the time. ‘I’m an artist of today and although my song writing is classic, I want it to sound like today,’ he explains.
