Das Debut des britischen Duos vom Ende 2003 war das, was man hinter vorgehaltener Hand eine `Trip-Hop´-Platte nennt.
Eine spaet gekommene, aber doch sehr anerkannte und respektabel erfolgreiche TripHop-Platte.

Doch der Zweitling der Soulsavers ist kein TripHop. Gut, das Cinematische, das Athmosphaerische sind geblieben. Aber hier regieren Gospelchoere und Morricone-Gitarren. Und ueber allem liegt wie eine schwere, kratzende Wolldecke der rauchige Bariton von niemand geringerem als Seattle-Legende Mark Lanegan.

Mark war dabei nicht der Einzige, der den Soulsavers seine Stimme leiht. So singt Will Oldham aka Bonnie Prince Billie aka Palace Music bei `Through My Sails´ mit Lanegan im Duett.`Ich finde, es passt prima, denn beide haben einen aehnlichen musikalischen Hintergrund, aber so unterschiedliche Stimmen voller Soul. Hier Marks tiefer Bariton, dort Will’s hoher Gesang.`Nicht ohne Stolz kann Rich Machin von den Soulsavers erzaehlen: `Die beiden sind auch grosse Fans und Bewunderer voneinander. Vor unseren Aufnahmen aber hatten sie sich noch nie getroffen.`

Soulsavers sind Rich Machin und Ian Glover nach ihrem Debuet aus dem Jahre 2004 `Tough Guys Don`t Dance´ haben sie mit dem zweiten Album `It's Not How Far You Fall, It's The Way You Land´ ein Album geschaffen, das mit gut in den Bestenlisten 2007 auftauchen könnte, vereint es auf magische Weise Hip-Hop, Rock, Country, Soul & Gospel. 8 der insgesamt 12 songs wurden von Mark Lanegan eingesungen, und als waere das noch nicht genug: Will Oldham, PW Long & Jimi Goodwin (Doves) Rich Warren haben ebenso mitgewirkt!

Biographie
There are a few acts I am unwilling to perform in public. Near the top of the list is falling to my knees, raising my hands to heaven, and crying like a redeemed sinner. Luckily I was on my own when I first heard the Soulsavers. From that moment on I adopted the role of travelling medic, administering Soulsaver medicine whenever and wherever I could. Believe me brothers and sisters; I was not once chased out of town. Soulsavers ain’t no snake oil, it's righteous medicine.

The Soulsavers follow up their critically acclaimed debut, ‘Tough Guys Don’t Dance,’ with, ‘It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land.’ Three years in the making, this time round they have joined up with Mark Lanegan who provides vocals on eight songs.
The album also features a cameo performance by Will Oldham. It's an eclectic recording, a unique mix of hip-hop, rock, country, soul & gospel.
