The Funky DL album “The Interview” is about the thoughts and feelings of Funky DL at this current point in his life and career where he lyrically goes a little deeper in expressing his ideologies than he ever did on previous releases.

The album is also about Funky DL’s testing of creative boundaries musically and adding a more profound sense of artistry to hip-hop, meanwhile commentating vividly on life issues and ethics, morals, principles and codes that we all live by or on the contrary do not live by. The concept behind the album was to present songs as if formatted in a radio interview where Funky DL is able to answer questions from the interviewer through song and give real in depth answers to how he feels and the many things people may want to know about him. The idea is to intrigue the listener to gain a personal understanding of Funky DL the human being, through a person to person medium (the interview) and to access an intimate comprehension of
what I am all about as well as the normal artistic and creative understanding. The concept also allows the listener a greater insight into his mind whilst at the same time offering the opportunity to hear him in another way other than MC’ing on tracks.

And plus, how often do we get to hear some of our favourite artists in this way in such a readily available format without having to tune in to a radio station at a particular time and frequency?
