After one of the best reactions to a Loungin' single - Art Bleek's "Wanderers Creek" - comes Art's debut album. With praise from across the musical spectrum, from Gilles Peterson to MAW, Jazzanova and beyond, this debut looks set to put Art Bleek firmly on the map.
One afternoon in late 2004, the Loungin A&Rs were flicking through demos and as per normal every cd they put in the player was the same old formulas of bland broken beats, mixed with VST plug-ins. Then came the last cd, from the cover no one was expecting much, but as they put the first track on to play, everyone in the room realized that this was something very special. Eighty minutes and nineteen
tracks later, Loungin' wrote to Arthur Pochon, arranged a meeting in Paris the following week, and then promptly signed the young Parisian for a two-album deal. The rest as they say is history...
Loungin' Recordings was launched in 2000 with an exciting new underground movement emerging. This scene comprised of jazz, hip hop, broken beats and urban culture. Dropkick into 2006 and Loungin' Recordings have established themselves as key players in the field. The music from the label includes past productions by Domu, Solid Groove, Max Fresh, Trevor Loveys, Sinden, Tubbs, Phonique, No Comment and Avon Guard, with producers such as Kenny Dope, Simbad, Solid Groove & Domu remixing for the label. Originally set up by Chris Belsey and Jesse Rose, with the help of Sinden along the way.
In 2006 Loungin' moves into new territories with their first album release from Parisian musician and producer Art Bleek. This year will also feature the first Loungin' compilation and more killer 12"es of course.
