Byron Lee is an ambassador for Caribbean music. His versions of popular hits became the standard for Caribbean remakes. A master musician and arranger, Mr. Lee has a knack for picking just the right song to cover in soca or reggae style.
!Soca Royal! is the first studio album from Byron Lee in three years – he was too busy touring, recording hit singles and celebrating his 50th anniversary in the business (see “Essential Byron Lee”, VPCD4120).
The album features the massive hit “She’s Royal (Soca Remix)” along with a version of the Da’Ville hit “Always On My Mind”. Classic covers include the Beres Hammond nugget “They Gonna Talk” plus medleys of Morgan Heritage, Sanchez and Tony Rebel hits.
