The Andrea Pozza Trio consists of Andrea Pozza, Sangoma Everett, and Aldo Zunino.

Andrea Pozza was born in Genova in 1965 and at the age of 4 followed in his father’s footsteps and began to play the piano. Starting off by learning standards such as “Manhattan” and “Ain’t Misbehaving” Andrea soon began to attend the conservatory where he studied for many years and then, at the age of 16, played his first real important gig alongside such American greats as Al Grey, Harry Sweets Edison, Chet Baker and many others. Then came the meeting with Gianni Basso and Andrea joined his Big Band Quartet. Later on there were important collaborations with people such as Sal Nistico, Luciano Milanese, Tullio De Piscopo, Steve Grossman, George Coleman and others that took Andrea to France and Great Britain. From 2002 on, Andrea Pozza released various recordings on numerous labels and in 2004 he started a very important collaboration with the mighty Enrico Rava. 2004 also saw his first recording alongside Idea6 for Paolo Scotti with Gianni Basso, Dino Piana, Guido Pistocchi, Luciano Milanese and Stefano Bagnoli. Since then he has had releases on GoFour and ECM.

Sangoma Everett began playing the drums at the age of twelve in his home-town of Virginia. After his initial success he decided to head for New York where he teamed up with bassist and composer Bill Lee and played with The Clifford Jordan Quartet for three years. Improving all the while he soon started collaborating with big names like Barry Harris, Chris Anderson, Murial Winston and Joe Newman with whom he stayed in Northern Ireland in 1979. From there he settled down in Paris, France, and had the opportunity of playing regularly alongside Jimmy Forest, Al Grey, Jimmy Smith, Mal Waldron, Horace Parlan, Jimmy Woode, Kirk Lightsey and La Velle. Sangoma then went on to tour Africa in 1984 with Memphis Slim and in 1986 and 1987 with Dee Daniels. He has also performed at many festivals throughout Europe. During the next years he took part in various formations along with Barney Wilen, Eddie Louiss and was the drummer with The Golden Gate Quartet and the Nomads Of The Desert.
His great talent has also seen him playing alongside Philippe Catherine, Dizzy Gillespie, Doudou Gouirand, Donald Harrison, Benny Golson, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Maurice Vander, Leon Thomas, Steve Lacy, Erik Truffaz, Tony Lakatos, Linda Hopkins, Jimmy Witherspoon, as well as performing vocals with Laurent Garnier.

Aldo Zunino began playing piano and guitar at a very early age and then decided to move over to the double-bass at the age of 17. He soon became much in demand and worked in Italy, France, Germany, England, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia and Slovenia. He has also played almost all of the main festivals throughout the years. Highlights have included playing at the legendary Ronnie Scotts Club in London and New Morning and Sunset in Paris. Aldo is very proud of the rather long list of musicians he has played with: Gianni Basso, Franco D’Andrea, Enrico Rava, Pietro Tonolo, Paolo Fresu, Maurizio Giammarco, Luigi Bonafede, Franco Cerri, Gil Cuppini, Gianni Cazzola, Tullio De Piscopo, Benny Golson, Art Farmer, Jimmy Cobb, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Chambers, Gary Bartz, Sweets Edison, Clark Terry, Ben Riley, Kenny Burrell, Lester Bowie, Junior Mance, Albert Heath, Cedar Walton, Tony Scott, Nat Adderley, Clifford Jordan, Horace Parlan, Shirley Scott, Kenny Davern, Alfred Kramer, Paul Jeffrey, Ralph Sutton, Bob Wilber, Jerry Bergonzi, Alvin Queen, Bryan Lynch, Carl Fontana, Conte Candoli, Joe Newman and Lew Tabackin. Zunino has been Steve Grossman’s bassist since 1995 and steadily works with drummer Bobby Durham, pianist Riccardo Zegna and the Genovese Bansigu Big Band. Now living in Genova, for the last twelve years he has also been teaching.
