Mind OdysseyTime To Change It [Hard / Heavy]RELEASE: 27.02.2009LABEL: Napalm RecordsVERTRIEB: SPVWEBSITE: www.mindodyssey.de/Die Wurzeln von Mind Odyssey können in Merlin (eine Metal Band aus Ost-Berlin) und Gracious Violence (eine Metal Band aus West-Berlin) gefunden werden. Mario Le Mole (Merlin & Gracious Violence), Dan Uhden (Merlin), Rocco Stellmacher und Volker Schultz (Gracious Violence) formten den ursprünglichen Kern von Mind Odyssey. Das erste Demo wurde unter der Mithilfe von Frank Bornemann (Eloy) in den Horus Sound-Studios (Helloween, Victory,…) eingespielt. The origin of Mind Odyssey dates back to the East Berlin band Merlin and the West Berlin band Gracious Violence. Mario Le Mole (Merlin & Gracious Violence), Dan Uhden (Merlin), Rocco Stellmacher (Merlin) and Volker Schultz (Gracious Violence) joined forces to create Mind Odyssey. The first demo was recorded with the help of Frank Bornemann (Eloy) at Horus Sound-Studios (Helloween, Victory...). The demo was particularly well received in Japan, where the biggest Rock Magazine BURRN! welcomed the band’s first independent release with open arms. Due to the very good feedback from the international press and media, national interest in the band soon increased. Shortly thereafter, the band secured their first record deal. The debut, entitled “Keep It All Turning” was released in the spring of 1993. A major line-up change took place shortly thereafter as Victor Smolski (Rage) entered the picture. He took over the guitar and keyboard duties and immediately started composing new material. In the early summer of 1995, Mind Odyssey entered the studio to record their next offering “Schizophrenia”. This time, the band worked with Hermann Frank (Accept, Victory). In order to promote the release of the second album, a videoclip was produced and quickly picked up by MTV and Viva. In 1996 two new members joined Mind Odyssey – Jan Keller (bass) and Andreas Dirksmeier (keyboards). After performing numerous shows in Germany, the band embarked on a tour supporting Vicious Rumours and thus taking “Schizophenia” on the road. Mind Odyssey finalized their album trilogy in 1997 and released their third album. “Nailed to the Shade” was recorded and produced by Charly Czajkowski. Again, the band toured throughout Europe, and this time shared the stage with Savatage. This stroke of luck became the perfect opportunity to bring their unique brand of Melodic Metal to the masses. Not known for resting on their laurels, Mind Odyssey recorded “Signs” in April 1999. The fourth album was recorded in Hamm, Germany’s VPS-Studios (Rage, Silent Force…). “Signs” proved to be their best release to date, mixing melodic Power Metal with orchestral elements. After a longer hiatus, the band, now comprising of Victor Smolski, Mario Le Mole and Dan Uhden, returned in 2008 with a renewed strength and energy, and more than ready to complete their eagerly awaited new album! “Time to Change It” delivers Melodic Metal of the highest calibre! The trio, led by musical virtuoso Victor Smolski (Rage), reveals how classic Melodic Metal should sound. Pulsing drums, sweeping melodies, and catchy hooklines provide a clear-cut direction for "Time to Change It". With their fifth release, Mind Odyssey demonstrates how to combine technical prowess with memorable melody lines in order to create first-class songs. In this way, multifaceted tracks emerge, refusing to let even one second pass without delivering a good dose of earworms. Those who enjoy Melodic Metal, should not let Mind Odyssey pass them by.
